In some construction applications, the use of flat or elongated particles of aggregates can interfere with consolidation and cause problems during placement.
The Proportional Caliper Device is used to determine the percentages of flat or elongated particles in coarse aggregates. It consists of a steel base plate with two fixed posts and a pivot mounted swing arm. The axis position can be changed to achieve the desired ratio of opening dimensions.
